Florida's three-day waiting period for most gun purchases may soon be a thing of the past. The National Rifle Association, along with gun stores and buyers, filed a federal lawsuit arguing the requirement is unconstitutional under the U.S. Supreme Court's recent expanded gun rights rulings. Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has sided with the plaintiffs and proposed a consent judgment that would declare the waiting period unconstitutional and end its enforcement, while keeping background check requirements intact.
